How to play Carrom

Make Carrom your next activity in the game library. Clear your nine carrom men after the queen is covered. Use the example below to understand a decision. Compare the starting position with the example in the Guide. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move.

Play a casual Carrom match using the house rules shown here. Tournament penalties and multi-board match scoring are not used.

Read before acting

Read one step at a time and try it on the playing area. Match the instruction to the control you use. Make the next step deliberately.

Your goal

Clear your nine carrom men after the queen is covered. Keep that objective in view throughout the round. Review the board or playing area as it changes.

Step by step

  1. White starts; set striker aim and power.
  2. Own-colour pockets earn another shot.
  3. Cover the queen with an own-colour man in the same or next shot.
  4. Striker fouls return one own pocketed man if available.
  5. Finish your colour after a covered queen.

Controls

Touch to aim; sliders set power and angle; striker-position controls and Shoot. A careful first action helps you become familiar with the layout. Check any mode label before starting.

A useful example

Queen and own man in one legal shot cover immediately. Use the example as a guide rather than a substitute for reading your board. Choose a deliberate next step.

Watch out for this

The last own man returns if the queen remains uncovered. A different version of the game may use a different rule. Take enough time to read a new position. If a game has a timer, learn its controls first rather than searching for them during the round.
